I have repeatedly explained that Bharat (India) is not a developing nation, but a re-developing civilisation-nation.

India had been the world’s leading civilisational power for the majority of recorded human history. Two sequential colonial eras first desecrated that civilisation, and thereafter sabotaged its re-emergence by proxy, post independence.

After c. 1,000 years of enforced decline, India is witnessing a swift and sustained period of revival. Beyond the restitution of her civilisation, I believe that India is also likely to re-assume her historic position as the world’s largest economy by the mid-to-late 2040s – and potentially even earlier. This is as much as 50 years sooner than projections by various international institutions and banks, the rationale for which I will explain in a future podcast.

However, most of the narratives about India’s past and her re-emergence today, whether in dishonest news stories, patronising popular culture or factually untenable school books are still either wholly untrue, exaggerated, or taken out of context.

One of the most prominent myths about India, for instance, is that she is the progenitor of caste. Today, even Indian scholars vehemently insist that this is the case, using disproven colonial-era sources to justify their claims.

The truth is that caste is not now and never has been a product of Indic civilisation, and is wholly distinct to varna and jati. Caste is simply the European class system, which was imported into India during the colonial era, superimposed onto Indian society in the 1800s.
